The sexual harassment allegations against film giant Harvey Weinstein sparked an online movement, in which women used “#MeToo” on social media to express solidarity for the pervasive issue of sexual harassment and abuse. It also took the lid off of decades of secrecy and oppression in the work place. The stories women are telling are not new. And as we are seeing, they are invasive in many “high profile” industries such as entertainment, media, politics, and sports. But what about the “low profile” stories? What about the women who don’t have the power to tell their stories and get help? Join Quincey Krull and I for this important conversation, Wednesday, Nov. 29th at 9:00 am Pacific/Noon Eastern on www.empowerradio.com or download the Empower Radio mobile app. ... See MoreSee Less

Lisbeth Nook ArbourI am so glad to hear us widen the conversation to be inclusive of all such experiences of sexual harassment and assault that women have experienced, thank you Julie. I have been thinking of all the women I have known throughout my life who have had these experiences of victimization by teachers, doctors, and so many others who hold the responsibility for the care of others where certainly there is such an extreme imbalance of power. When the most important ethics of professionalism have been discarded by those bound by such the most vulnerable of girls and women have been horribly exploited and victimized without any chance at all of ever saying so because they knew no one would believe them, and often those were the very words spoken to them as they were being victimized.
