After authoring more than 30 books, Andrew Harvey, Rumi scholar, mystic, and founder of Sacred Activism, is releasing what may be his consummate work, Turn Me To Gold: 108 Poems By Kabir. Born in India and deeply influenced by its mystic traditions, Andrew became enraptured not only with the exquisite spiritual illumination he discovered in Kabir, but the poet’s grounding relevance to our troubled times.

Divinity, Being

earth woman

Emerging from a dark and quiet world

Amid seasons of uncertainty and fear

Shines a bright light extending from the womb

The warmth of the mother’s breast

Comforts the soul and nourishes life

Creating a safe refuge in shades of deep red earth

The sacred companion embraces challenge

And smoothes away the bumps along the path

Teaching one to breathe, to exhale, to be

The orange dance is a turbulent fire

Yet the child of life sparks a sense of belonging

Surprised, she creates something greater than herself

The artist’s palette changes hue

While eternity expresses herself in awesome wonder

Through a brilliant yellow sunflower

Discovering the WholeSelf in a fragrant field of many

She smiles and has a cup of tea

While a soft breeze in celebration fills the air

The heart grows translucent

And expands with waves of resonance

The naked rhythm of a neighbor’s pain

Pierces awareness, while green bleeds and mourns

Discovering the element of peace, present within

Compassion sustains the greater good

The voice of justice sings in sweet harmony

Through the daunting blue terrain

Inspiring hope

The law of nature nurses the wound

And creative counsel calms the masses

Like cupcakes, true expression is a healing balm

The mind’s eye understands

And pauses in perfect stillness for reflection

Contemplating a deeper intention

The indigo prayer creates a space for openness

Becoming a center for Divine Consciousness

To move freely in the world

In the depths of her nothingness

Death whispers, as she becomes infinitely real

And surrenders into Love

One mind, One heart, One body

The gift of presence is made known

In perfect balance she is Divinity, Being

Unknowing

unkowing

I want to write a poem
That speaks to your unknowing
And gently invites you to open your soul

I want to write a poem
That resonates through every cell
And builds a field that inspires great vision,
Beauty, and wakes your heart

For if each syllable feels like home
We’ll make an intimate and powerful connection
With all that is – as it is

The nagging impulse of life re-calibrating
Will emerge through the words as a sliver that begs
Your undivided attention

You will try to ignore the nudge
Because it’s not the right time
Or place or whatever

Until you can’t.

Then you’ll listen as the sound of vowels
And consonants and joy and curiosity all run together
You’ll take notice as the whispers land
And presence themselves with a pungent “aha!”
You’ll tune in as creation moves at the frequency
Of your mystic’s heart and flows in your pulsing veins

And with the next breath
You’ll hear…

I want to write a poem
That taps into your unknowing
Until you dwell in the awareness
Of mine

And we’ll rest in the mystery together

She Shines Even Brighter

She Shines Even Brighter ~ Homage to the Blood Moon

woman-sun-scarf-free-wp

She shines so bright in her fullest glory

Whole. Luminous. Naked. Pure.

Reflecting ancient wisdom within her light

And resting in contentment, she opens to more

*

Shining a remembrance of love, unity

She invites the shadow, welcomes the dark

The emerging silhouette refracts her glow

And moves her deeper into heart

*

Choosing to stay connected to Herself

She acknowledges the perfect imperfection

Clears the beautiful, wrongful nature

And dies another death; complete; done

*

A resurgence of life quickens behind the eclipsed mystery

Returning to light, she enters the portal and opens a new door

She turns to face the transition with anticipation and proclaims

“I will not love from the place of fear or separation anymore”

*

Creation smiles as resonance nurtures the never broken

Hearts align, weaving and attuning to the cosmic anthem

She delights and dances on frequencies of hope, joy

And the gate of interconnection swings wide open

*

Harmony is restored; the sleeping soul reawakens

She shines even brighter:  whole, luminous, naked and pure.

And hearts across the world resound in the pulsing love

While grace celebrates, courage carries the dream forward to birth

A World of Love,

I am So Much More

cosmic baby

In this Holy space of quiet contemplation

I embrace the promise of today and its sweet taste of eternity

Trusting the field of all-possibility, I surrender into divine presence

She holds me like a swaddling baby and bathes my thoughts with love

The fragrant scent of awareness fills the air

I look into the eyes of God, and see peace

I am so much more than I “think” I am

Full of the nourishing gaze,

I move completely into the space between my thoughts

And gently align with the cosmic blueprint

Returning to my own true nature without ever really leaving

My heart pulses with infinite joy in formless, luminous, essence

The peaceful song of creation rocks me to the place of no more sleep

And I become so much more than I think I am

I Leap Without Leaping

Silhouette of hiking man jumping over the mountains

wandering along this broken path

urgency pushes and torments

my thoughts are clouded

emotions emerge and churn

this pioneer, searching

with each long, overcrowded step

lost becomes my imaginal soul

unsure of which direction to go

darkness haunts all that’s left

as glimpses of light allure my gaze

like my once safe environment

I am breaking down consciously

the path becomes ruin

as i find the edge of a cliff

the crumbling pieces forever falling

into perfect disorderly order

with no remains of the path ahead

I can fall into the abyss

or leap through the crisis

into the birth of a certain unknowing

chaos and crowding keep

moving me closer to the edge

there are so many here

yet I stand alone

with one evolutionary breath

I surrender in complete silence

contractions pushing

the portal beckoning

I leap without leaping

into the cosmic dance

and expand into the oneness

of Universal Divine Humanity
